i just read that Justin Simon picked up an offer from Louisville.
Robert Wagner killed Bison Dele!
I just looked up Simon on the other services (for one reason or another I usually use Rivals.com first) and I was amazed to see that he's listed as the #1 OVERALL recruit on Scout (he's only #80 on Rivals, which is what I had him pegged as across the board). ESPN ranks him #45 and 247 lists him as #38. Those are CRAZY ranges. You don't normally see a #1 overall player fall out of the top 10 on other sites.
Has anyone watched him play? Is he more PG or SG? Can you think of a comparison?
#16 on Scout. Rivals hasn't updated since he blew up but the variance on his rankings are interesting.
IMO in this instance Scout is the most accurate. Simon is a really good player with crazy upside. The main reason he isn't rated higher on the other ranking sites is that he was on an AAU team that didn't get a lot of publicity. He's absolutely dominated this year in high school and will be a big time riser in the rankings once evaluators see him play more.
Also, it is often a better indicator of talent to look at the player's offers than ranking sites. In addition to basically the entire west coast, Kansas and Louisville have recently offered and both schools (like Arizona) usually only offer a player if they are legit. Simon's high school stats are off the charts and his versatility and athleticism are making college coaches salivate. Besides Ivan Raab, Justin Simon is the recruit I want at Arizona the most in this recruiting class.
