Arizona, Florida Among Those Recruiting Slovakian 7-Footer
    February 19th, 2014 10:15 am

Arizona and Florida are among those schools working the hardest for 2014 Slovakian 7-footer Michal Cekovsky.

Cekovsky plays for Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain and head coach Rob Orellana told SNY.tv he has offers from Florida, Arizona, Louisville, UConn, Oregon, Florida State and Maryland with interest from Duke and Kentucky.

“He’s completely wide open and has no leader right now,” Orellana said.

He will take visits after the season in April and decide in the spring.

“Michal’s upside is off the charts,” Orellana said. “His skillset at 7-feet makes him a unique player. Add to that the fact he is a tireless worker. No question he will be a major impact player at a high-major program.”

Last year, 7-footer Matz Stockman of Canarias committed to Louisville for 2014.

Every time I think of Arizona looking at a euro big guy, I can't help but think of Kyryl.

Looks fluid, but probably a project.

Looks pretty good. Already has several post moves and can hit the jumpers. If he can transition to college ball and can continue with those moves and shots, he looks worth recruiting. Didn't see much defense though...just the one block. Let JB have him. Turn him into a beast.

Easy to look good against soft competition. The real test is can he play at the physical level of US hoops...offensive skills look great.
