Wilbur Gabe, Elliot, Jordin, and Matt Will See More Minutes

According to Coach Miller's press conference we should be seeing more of Gabe, Elliot, Jordin, and Matt should all be seeing more minutes soon. Probably in the Utah game and then Colorado this week. I believe this is in preparation for the tournaments. Getting them more minutes will improve their game.

I have a real good feeling about this.

    What does everyone else think?

if they can come in and contribute at a high level than im all for it...something needs to be done because a 6 man rotation wont cut it.

Mayes' confidence on the offensive end is extremely hard to watch, which is sad because I believed he really would be something special this late in his career. I hope the best for him tho and if he can provide offense through his good defense this team could be special.

What a way for Mayes to go out, getting his shot.
I hope he not only gets his shot, but does well.
Would love to see him step up and be a part of something special this year.

i just feel we should go with a 3 guard lineup anyway with gordon at the 4..let rondae go back to coming off the bench to give the team that much needed boost/2nd wind

Best chance to win is to have your best 5 on the floor, which is what the current lineup gives us. I do think we should see a lot more 3 guard lineups, but we really need York and Mayes to step it up for that to work.

I am hoping Mayes has his shot catch fire in time for tournament play, like in past years.

Not sure about the post and what we'll see, but if you look at what we were talking about a few weeks ago around Gabe, it seems to me that he is the one that really needs to step in and produce some offense. If he is truly a big program 2, now is the time to show his ability to provide offense off the bench in significant minutes. This is what he wanted. The spotlight is on, time to put up.

Parenthetically, I really hope NJ can get his mojo back soon.

Teams generally trim their line-up this time of year, not expand it... Once you get to the tournament games there are more TV timeouts as well.

Coach Miller Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Whether or not Coach Miller plays the bench, the Cats face 5 tough opponents in their final 6 regular season conference games - Utah, Colorado, Cal, Stanford, and Oregon. The Cats are like a wounded animal right now, being without Ashley, and having lost 2 games. The teams we will be facing know this and can smell blood. The Cats could realistically lose 2, 3, or 4 of these remaining games prior to the PAC-12 tourny. Most of these games will be close. Play the bench or not, there is no win/win scenario here.

It depends where the primary focus is. Play only the 6-man rotation now, and try to survive the remaining PAC-12 schedule; or give the bench significant minutes now and be better prepared later for the Big Dance, while going down in flames near term.

I'd like to see Pitts get much more PT, letting him play through mistakes and get into a groove going into the tourney. I'd like to see Korcheck and Mayes get spot minutes here and there, with them eventually phasing out come tournament time. I think Pitts has shown enough to earn his trust, whereas we know what we have with Mayes and Korcheck. It would be nice if Mayes recent big game would jump his confidence going into the tourney, and him playing like the old Mayes, but I don't see that happening. We're just a much worse looking team with Korcheck and Mayes on the floor.

Why would you think Oregon State on the road isn't a tough game? They beat UCLA at home so let's not automatically chalk that one up as a win.

Gabe needs to step up if given these increased minutes, he has been pretty dissapointing in pac 12 play imo. I like what I see from Pitts effort wise but he needs to knock down his open jumpers. Mayes needs to turn the clock back to 2011, and Korcheck needs to stop pointing when he finally gets on the court. He looks like he has to try much harder than the average player to understand the concept that not every single play in game looks exactly like it does in practice. He struggles adjusting to in game situations which may be helped with more PT, but I think it may be too late for that, hes just not that good.

What I am hearing from Millers comments, and maybe I'm reading into them, is that he has allowed the pressure of "Don't mess up or you won't get to play" to affect the bench to much...so in response to that, He's just gonna go to the bench regardless and believe they show up...I can see his point...if you are always playing "not to lose minutes" you are not playing to win...by letting them know they will get minutes based on the need it probably reduces SOME of the pressure...the entire bench has been playing like those hot dogs at circle K...hoping the rotation comes around to their good side at the same time the customer is hungry...and sometimes they look like those hot dogs as well...to much time on the rack...

If they moronically defend us the way they did the last game then we will roll right over them.

The fact is we NEED one of those guys to step the heck up and be the guy who can make the three. I actually think Pitts might be the guy he has been pretty good except that his shot hasn't fallen. But it looks like if he gets comfortable he can shoot. Of course, I said the same thing about York at one point........One of those guys has the opportunity to be the MAN. Which one will grab it?
