Default Hey ZonaZoo: Rush the Court

In the wake of events from last night, I have a suggestion:

Assuming that the Cats build a large lead at home this season, I think the fans should rush the court and celebrate a basket with 2-3 minutes remaining. Test the Pac-12 and get some National attention regarding the (lack of) calls against asu and CAL.

It may result in a technical, but at the least...e media will start discussing the premature on-court stampedes.

This is only a 'half-sarcastic' post. Yes, technicals would likely be called and Miller would be upset...yet I would die laughing if our fans rushed the court during a "stoppage that doesn't result in a violation".

Perhaps Larry Scott will step up and say something...

I was thinking the same thing...next year when we're up 20 on asu with 2 minutes left just storm the court and hang out there for 5 to 10 minutes as a joke....see if they call a tech...set a precedent haha

It would be funny, yes. Should we sink to that level, no.

I'd rather see the 20 pt lead/win and the Wildcats acting in the classy way they always do. That's what separates us from the scum in basketball and other sports. Other than the refs, all the missed free throws, the energy just didn't seem to be in the Wildcats game. I'll give them that. But, now's the time to decide if they want to be the best or just want to go through the motions.

I went to bed at 10:30 and woke up dreaming about the game at 4:30. Couldn't go back to sleep. If they're as much into getting to the top as I am into watching them play, they'll fix this.

What really needs to happen is a fan or bench player or rim hanger needs to be tagged with an inbounds pass with time on the clock.

I thought the same thing last night. If we had in-bounded the ball into Jahee's face with 0.5 seconds left, perhaps the refs would have no choice but to call the T's.

I'd do it but it's not worth getting arrested. We actually have security that cares at McKale and they will throw you on the floor and cuff you for even thinking about rushing.

The trick is getting the entire zoo to do it.

If one or three people do it, sure - you're arrested. Entire Zoo does it, cops are helpless.

Numbers always win out in the immediate.

In reality the refs should have had no choice but to do their job, with everything that happened.

They willfully chose to do what they did.

What I thought was interesting is that the refs didn't automatically go check to see if more time needed to be added as they did when ASU was taking a last shot during the 1st overtime (I think) and they added about 1 sec to the clock. Both Walton and Pausch said that was an automatic thing for the refs to do but didn't understand why it took so long to make a determination.

I've thought this too...just inbound the ball right away and they have no choice but to call a tech.

Also, saying it was a dead ball because they were going to check the clock is a cop out. The rim hang and the whole bench coming onto the court was simultaneous. So if there is a dead ball anything goes? You can hang on rims and have fans come out onto the court? Also you can throw things at the other team? That's cool...let's just call time-out and have a few parties out there.

Can Miller say "he touched the ball" all he wants during a dead ball and not get a tech then lol?

Once again would not have wanted the techs...we played like crap and lost...but just admit to officiating mistakes when they happen

They had to review video to get a good time to set the clock - watching rim chin ups and and players/fans storming the court w/ each rewind.

    Cowards.

No excuse for the loss btw - it just annoys the crap outta me. Still haunting my dreams - but hopefully that's just the pain meds, and will soon go away.

The great programs always act as if they been there before.... The second rate ones don't. So no, lets not go there.

They'd be rushing to make a statement to the officials, not celebrate beating some **** conference foe.

This. I think the rest of college basketball will understand that Arizona wouldn't celebrate a huge win over Oregon State...especially with three minutes remaining.

    Just a pipe dream anyway.

I in no way support or condone such a blatant infraction of NCAA rules. With that said, it would be absolutely hilarious, and particularly piquant.

We could do this in Vegas if we end up playing them, you know that right?

maybe everyone could wear "Larry Scott Sucks" Shirts, im sure other schools would chip in as well

pac12 networks advertising space has to be on the cheap, just make them a 30 second ad spot they cant refuse.

You have to know that the refs would probably call U of A with a tech if our fans did this. Seems to be the way the games are going this year with all the no calls and missed calls especially at home. It seems to me that U of A doesn't get the calls at home that I see other teams get.

I'm sure DirecTV would sponsor the kids & hand those shirts out for free. DTV logo on the back & LSS on the front.

    Love it!

["With the game stopped, the fans and team followers who rushed the floor did not create a delay that interfered with play," the Pac-12 said. "Therefore, by the NCAA basketball rules, when the delay does not interfere with play, it shall be ignored."] These are the official league rules. So technically, as long as we run on during a time out and then run off before its over. Then it's technically OK and "shall be ignored". Lets set the wheels in motion gentlemen
