Default Lot of Respect from the voters, loss drops us to #2

    http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...ar/2014/poll/1

Gotta say I am surprised Florida and WSU didn't jump us, but I feel that we deserve to be #2 with our body of work.

    Bear down

Good to see A.P. voters look at the entire body of work, Arizona probably still has the best resume with Arizona's wins out of conference trumping Syracuse's schedule. Now let's keep winning and wait for Syracuse to slip up to reclaim the #1 spot.

Yes, let's not fall into the same state the other top teams have had this year and loose a bunch of games in a row. Beardown this week against the Oregon schools!

Nice to see that they recognize the season this team has had so far. Honestly though, we now are back to having something to prove. Loss of Ashley and our terrible offense the last few games, we have work to do to stay at the top come March.

Wow, that's great news! Can't say I expected that...hoped for it, but didn't expect it. I think it will help us refocus...get hungry. We know the storyline for every article and every broadcast the remainder of the year will be about our depth (and lack of it.) They're going to show Brash sitting on the bench in street clothes 10 times a game for the remainder of conference. We're all going to be jittery until we settle into this new lineup. Then come March, we'll get nervous all over again. :) But we CAN do this!

Duke jumped 6 after a loss. That WAS a hell of a game, though.

I hope Syracuse enjoys their time at the top this week. It will be short lived, as Notre Dame will beat them tonight. Take care of the Oregon schools at home this week, and next week at this time the Wildcats will be #1 again. Book it.

Dont see that too often. Probably a combination of all the other teams that lost along with a good road win against pitt on monday. One of the best 1-1 weeks you can possibly have

Duke could go winless the rest of the year and still be in the Top 25.

I am really looking forward to see how the team responds on Thursday. We still have all the tools to be a top four team. You can argue that our starting 5 with RHJ is actually better defensively now. Obviously depth is a big and real issue. However, I am very interested and optimistic to see what Sean Miller does to make us more effective offensively. This forces his hand, but is also an opportunity for him to rework an offense that has been struggling. Some may say our offense has been under performing. Bash might have had the most offensive weapons of anyone on the team, but I we did not take advantage of it that often.

Final thought. There has been a trend this year of undefeated teams falling off a cliff after their lost. Lets focus on winning these two at home!

Our only concern, as fans, should be the #1 seed in the West. If we slip up over the next month, there's a good chance SDSU could claim that spot.

So happy to see Cats not falling more! Each win will earn us even more respect now and we certainly have the quality to get those wins!

Kudos to Oregon State for beating UCLA. That was sweet as well :D

Was happy about that, too. A two-game buffer feels pretty good right about now.

Texas has come a long way compared to how they were playing early on...

For sure, LOVED seeing them down Kansas! Everyone rants and raves about that team but as much talent as they have there seems to be a chemistry or coaching issue because they are not displaying the talent like they should be. Texas DOMINATED them! Again, LOVED it! NOT a Kansas fan, mainly because their fans are such jerks!! haha

It was sure difficult to cheer for Duke. But it was the best game of the weekend.

But SDSU can't get sent to San Diego for the 2nd/3rd round games because it is in their home arena... So as a #2-#4 in the West, Arizona could still get the San Diego-> Anaheim path.

SDSU will not even be a number one seed, much less one in the West. They may deserve to be but coming from a smaller conference that is #10ish in conference RPI they will have to go undefeated the rest of the way to even sniff a one seed. I don't see them beating New Mexico three times with the lackluster way they have been playing. They have been consistently winning by tiny margins even over crummy teams.

I did a quick look at the AP ratings website, to see the spread of the votes, for what it's worth....

    Total voters = 65
    Ranked UA 2nd - 37 voters
    Ranked UA 3rd - 17 voters
    Ranked UA 4th - 8 voters
Ranked UA 5th - 2 voters (both had SYRACUSE, FLA, WICH ST, SDSU ahead of us)...voters were from Maryland and Montana
Ranked UA 6th - 1 voters (had SYRACUSE, WICH ST, SDSU, FLA, VILLANOVA ahead of us)....voter was from New Orleans
