8. Brandon Ashley | F | Arizona Wildcats
Key stat: Shooting 66.7 percent on pick-and-roll plays this season
The Wildcats are the most complete team in college basketball. They have a veteran backcourt with Nick Johnson and T.J. McConnell as well as a gifted frontcourt. Arizona has a nice blend of experienced youth, veteran guards and elite freshmen. When people talk about the Wildcats, they often bring up the talent of Aaron Gordon, the maturity that Johnson brings or the development of Kaleb Tarczewski. However, I think the forgotten Wildcat is Ashley.
Ashley, at 6-11, is a forward who can make the long-range shot (40 percent) and drive the ball from the high post. He rebounds well for his position and is an excellent rim-protector. While opposing coaches are making game plans to contain Gordon and Johnson, often it is Ashley who makes the big play or shot for the Wildcats. His ability to shoot also makes a difference because, if there is one weakness on this team, it is 3-point shooting.
