    Default The refs and us

This is how we lost. The refs missed a ton, and were once again were inconsistent. But we also beat ourselves.

Its a tech, it has been called before. Less than a year ago.

They willfully decided to not do their job.

Most of Memorial Hall thought the game was over as fans and players ran on the court to celebrate. But the game officials conferenced, charged Delaware State with a technical foul for delay of game and set the clock back to 1.1 seconds remaining.

Aric Brooks made the two free throws for Morgan State and the Bears, awarded possession following the technical foul, ran out the clock for the win.

Refs definitely had something to do with it. But the refs have something to do with every game. It's the deep flaw with the game of basketball that no one ever talks about. It's how you adjust to their style of calls and biases that win you games. I would say the refs in the Stanford game were terrible because they were inconsistent over time from start to finish. These guys (i.e., in the Berkeley game) looked pretty consistent to me, so adjusting to their style should not have been a problem.

Nick was 1-14, BA hurt, extended minutes for everyone.

Hell Soloman and Kravish both had 4th fouls? We even hit all of our FT's, when you look at it that way we shouldnt of really even been in the game anyway.

The odds were already against us going in, IMO. Especially after Ashley got hurt. Johnson re-aggravating his wrist injury didn't help since that probably caused him to have the off shooting night

I said both the refs and us beat us. That was a tech. Period. Plus multiple missed calls, and inconsistency from first half to second. But we also sucked..... Hard.

the refs didn't make nick shoot 1-14, and if you haven't looked at the box score we doubled up their FT's...drop the ref bull****

It's a delay of game technical that allowed Cal to call a timeout or two (not sure) to set up their defense, instead of giving us an open run out.

That is willful and conscious decision by the refs.

I disagree. Multiple times nick drove in and got hacked with no call.

I agree only, with .09 secs left in the game. Technical has to be called there
other than that, Cobb was clutch

If you want to rely on a bailout for fans rushing the court, go ahead, but it's a pvssy excuse. The real issues are our mvp shooting 1-14 (which is highly unusual) and every team in the P12 knowing that AG can't shoot to save his life (which we will face from now through the remainder of the season).

NJ picked a bad time to have his worst game of the year, but I most concerned with Ashley. If his injury is serious, we have a big problem. Miller's had some great success recruiting, but after five years we should be able to go more than seven deep. Now it may be six. Our offence is a problem.

The offense was not very efficient tonight. We shot 32%-18% from 3.

The defense was not what they normally are. Cal shot 48% - 50% 3

Losing Brash didn't help at all. The refs made some bad calls, but I didn't see it as one sided.

Yet, even with those numbers the Wildcats were right there.

It seemed like this was the night. Syracuse would've lost if not for the refs.

Besides the Wildcats, six ranked teams lost tonight. Four of them to unranked teams and the other two to lower ranked teams.

I'm still proud of the Wildcats. They never gave up. Nick's shooting was off. He's our main scoring machine. Brash was hurt.

No one can take from Cal the fact that they played a good game.

The only question I would have about this game is that Kravish played almost the entire second half with 3 fouls. Yet we never drove into him to draw the fourth. Did it with Solomon, but left Kravish alone. Why?

I think it's better to lose one now than in the end when it's really important.

Nothing to worry about the Wildcats will only fall eight or nine spots in the AP poll. We know how that goes.

Maybe with this loss the offense will regain what it seems to have lost.

    Bear Down Wildcats!

They had some to do with it. They lost us 2 clear possessions that were clearly off of Cal players. Cal seemed like they were bumping our players and hacking us. They could have called a tech on the Cal fans and bench for being on the court (I am glad they didn't). Solomon hit Gordon in the face and fouled Zues on every possession.

We got bad away calls this trip. We get good calls sometimes when we are at home. Refs aided in homecooking for the Syracuse/ Duke game as well. It is what it is, but the officiating was a little more frustrating this trip.

Our guys did not come through and beat that adversity, long season. I am just proud our guys don't over react to the bogus calls.

I can't believe people on this site are actually calling for a technical foul for rushing the court. The game was over at that point.

You could see the pressure of being undefeated starting to wear on this team. I think the loss will do us good in the long run.
