Has a deadly scorer.
“I want to win,” Rondae Hollis-Jefferson said. “Everything I do is to help my team win, and I really think Arizona is a place where we can win a national championship.” -Rondae Jefferson
Has a chance to be special
Made a top 5 team poop itself.
Needs work. Sorry. Being honest.
Teams will always need work, but you cant deny the tenaciousness and will to win
Can be damn good if they can win a game like this without major contributions offensively from their bigs!
We are 8-0 and we are still improving. Bear Down!
still has a long way to go. big win, but aside from 1 minute at the end of the half and maybe 2 minutes at the end of the game we were out played and out coached.
love the will to win on the team though and our chances to be special are very apparent, but im sure glad we have a few months til march.
Played with grit and determination ... thank goodness nobody told FL that you have to play 20 minutes in a half, not 19!
Look at this box score:
Florida Gators vs. Arizona Wildcats - Box Score - December 15, 2012 - ESPN
Which coach do you think is more encouraged? The one who watched his guys make 55.6% of its 3-point attempts, win the rebounding battle AND LOSE?
Or the coach who watched his team play pretty awful for large stretches AND STILL WIN?
Let that sink in for a second. Florida made 55% of its 3's + out-rebounded the Cats by 11...and lost.
I realize Florida was on the road, but if those numbers are reversed, don't we win by 15? How can you not be encouraged by that???
exactly what I took away from this game. pretty much the only thing. We played a juggernaut of a team, that played stellar for all intensive purposes, we played poorly (stats wise) and won. That's down right scary. Also, the refs called the game like an sec game, not a pac12 game. The contact florida was allowed to have on arizona all night was crazy.
What I see in the stats is that turnovers lose games!
We are not a top 5 team, so let's not go crazy. Hopefully, the team won't miss the chance to address the many points of development Florida exposed due to the win. With 10 minutes to go in the game I was genuinely wondering if it wouldn't be better for UA's progress to have lost (I knew the result), as the outcome may allow some of the guys to miss learning from the process. We have a long way to go to be a seriously elite team this year, though this game should help that process in a major way. Bear Down.
Do yourself a favor and re-watch the tape. You'll be shocked at how many wide open looks we missed. Our guys are 100% capable of making those shots. I expect them to start falling again sooner rather than later.
Do we need to get better to compete with Top 10 teams on a nightly basis? Of course. The good thing is we have the talent to do so.
Go Hard or Go Home!
I honestly think some of you guys aren't quite grasping how easy it was for us to create good looks against that defense. When they played man, we absolutely ate it alive. They couldn't guard us (minus Young against our young post guys; Young is a MONSTAR). They were much more effective in zone, and we still created a boat load of good looks.
That's what I take from that game more than anything. If we make our normal percentages on WIDE OPEN shots, we win that game going away. And the thing is THEY DID MAKE THEIRS. That's what's so encouraging.
Edit: I just looked at the efficiency numbers from last night's game, and we actually scored 1.10 points/possession. Do you know how good that is against that defense? The previous high against Florida this season was 1.00 (by UCF). Wisconsin scored 0.89 ppp against Florida. Marquette? 0.80. FSU? 0.73. Just imagine if we actually made our open shots...
I thought we played really good defense, most of their shots (not all) were contested and they just flat out made them, I was impressed with our performance and as Trane has been saying we easily could have won that.

This team is going to go far and continue to grow every day, plus we have the best coach in the game. I think the time out at 1:17 was probably one of the best time out calls and coaching by miller
This team has yet to reach it's full potential. We've got some great games under our belt already, and have some great tournament experience upcoming. We just beat a top 5 team that has been crushing it's opponents. I cannot imagine how good this team is going to be come March. I'm looking forward to watching them perfect the art of winning. Bear Down
Makes me proud.
