When Miller first got here, we asked him in Maui if he intended on attacking the passing lanes now that he'll have "more athleticism" on the perimeter. He said no.
Also, Miller's issue with a more pressing defense, is that when you do it throughout the game, teams are much more likely to attack it. We've all seen presses get torched for easy layups and dunks because the offense was being aggressive. In all our comebacks, the other team was tightening up and trying not to lose game. They were cautious and it hurt them. Given how we've had regular defensive lapses, I don't want to gamble on a steal if it means an easy two points in the middle of game.
I know all of us like fast paced, high scoring basketball, as we should. But I'm pretty sure Miller would much rather give up 60 and try to grind out a win with bad offense then give up 80 and hope to outscore your opponents with great offense.
